Group Home Negligence

In a blistering report published on March 12, 2011 after a yearlong investigation, The New York Times found widespread problems in more than 2000 New York State-run group homes.

Based on hundreds of state records reviewed by The Times, some 13,000 allegations of abuse by employees who sexually abused, beat or taunted residents occurred in 2009, and fewer than 5 percent were reported.
